Barry M Gelly Hi Shine – Nutmeg

I’m forever a fan of nudey pinks & I’m really pleased with the new Barry M shade Nutmeg. I picked this up in Boots for Β£3.99 after seeing it on Instagram. It’s not too dissimilar to Nails Inc Uptown which I have blogged about previously & is also a favourite of mine.

On my ring finger I’ve used Barry M Majestic sparkle which is a gold glitter top coat. The flecks of gold glitter are all different sizes & create a 3D effect. You could probably wear this on it’s own if you used 2 coats.

As always photos show 2 coats of colour (although with this shade you could definitely get away with just one) and my favourite Essie top & base coat.

NYX Lip Lingerie – Beauty Mark

NYX Lip Lingerie is marketed as a weightless liquid lipstick with a plush matte finish in a range of colour kissed nudes with a creamy finish. Sounds good right? So when I saw that Boots had these liquid lipsticks in stock I just had to try one. I chose Beauty Mark which is a chocolate frosting colour brown.

I’d not tried a liquid lipstick before so wasn’t entirely sure what to expect but I’d watched numerous YouTube reviews of these to decide which colour to buy and they gave me an idea of what the product would be like. Beauty mark is a stunning colour but I would not describe it as nude. It’s very stand out & bold, quite different to anything that I would usually wear. I think maybe I picked the wrong colour for my skin tone, however, that doesn’t take away from what is a beautiful colour.

I found application quite difficult as the doe foot applicator was so long & just not what I’m used to (hence the messy lip line in my photographs!). It was perfectly opaque after one coat, however, I do feel it was very sticky on my lips, not what I personally would call a creamy finish. Beware also – you must exfoliate your lips before wearing this product! If you don’t it will show up every crack, crease & dry spot; not attractive. It does look very matte once it’s taken a couple of minutes to dry which was true to its word. I like the matte look so I was pleased about this.

Beauty Mark wears quite well, it’s pretty kiss proof & it’s also buildable so if it wears off slightly around the centre of your lips after eating or drinking it’s easy enough to reapply. What’s not easy though is removal! You will have to really scrub if you’re using a make up wipe to remove it like I attempted to!

Overall this isn’t a bad product but at the moment just not for me. I’ll probably try to wear it a few more times before deciding whether I like it or not but its not immediately a favourite of mine. I liked the colour but application & removal were difficult, it felt sticky on my lips & if I wanted a nude I can think of better ones. However it is matte as it claims to be, it wears well & is long lasting. For the price I can’t really fault it, it’s just a personal opinion.

Nails Inc Kensington Gore

I really like nude shades on my nails, so for this week’s manicure and pedicure I have chosen Nails Inc Kensington Gore. This colour is described on the Nails Inc website as being a rich nude. I think this is a fairly accurate description, it is a minky camel colour, although rather cool in tone.

This colour is just perfect for my skin tone and looks really classy. Application was easy, although a nude shade it was perfectly opaque in one coat, and if you were in a hurry you could probably get away with wearing just the one coat.

I got this shade as part of the In The Nude collection which is available to purchase here . It is not entirely dissimilar to the hero shade Nails Inc Cadogan Square (see photos for comparison) although I was say that Cadogan Square is a slightly warmer shade of camel.

Photographs show a base coat and two coats of colour.
